WHAT WE TREAT

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is an evidence-informed, non-invasive and hands-on practice that safely and effectively helps to improve the body’s overall function by focusing on the musculoskeletal and nervous system. The spinal cord, the spinal nerves, and the brain are the command centres that coordinate and control the function of all the body’s organs, parts and muscles. Poor posture, weak postural muscles, physical trauma and lack of care can lead to misalignment in the spinal joints which could cause pain, mobility issues and affect the communication between the brain and the body. It can help to opt for treatment that restores the alignment of spinal joints and thereby help to restore range of motion, decrease pain and reduce postural tension. Chiropractic adjustments open up the neural pathways and ensure there is no obstruction to the flow of information. Patients often observe improvement immediately after their first adjustment. The time it takes to completely heal depends on the severity of the condition and the physical constitution of the patient.

Chiropractic Care at Complete Balance

At Complete Balance, our chiropractors work collaboratively as part of your circle of care team. Your chiropractic visit may consist of chiropractic adjustments, gentle joint mobilizations and hands-on muscle release therapy. Mobilizations are slow movements that stretch the joint and help to increase the range of motion while manipulations or adjustments are quick movements that help to restore proper range of motion to joints that are restricted and unable to move well. Combined with the best evidence available, clinical experience, and your goals in mind, our chiropractors will work together with you and other practitioners to get you back to feeling your best.

One particular technique often used by our Chiropractors is called the Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), developed by Dr. M. B. DeJarnette, involving the use of custom wedge-shaped blocks to allow your body to maintain balance along with light adjustment to reposition and balance the pelvis and stimulate healthy nerve function. SOT involves gentle touch and our patients often express the procedures to be relaxing and calming. SOT stabilises the cranial sacral respiratory responses, allowing your brain and spine to communicate with the rest of your body as efficiently as possible. As your body begins to respond to this technique, it can heal itself more efficiently, while clearing the stress that exists throughout your spine.

What are Chiropractors effective in treating?

Various musculoskeletal conditions such as muscle sprain/strain, sports injuries, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, scoliosis, hypermobility, headache, migraine, concussion, low back pain, knee pain and TMJ related sleep issues.

However, preventative care is just as important as acute care, especially if you are looking for long-term wellness. Regular chiropractic care can improve your overall quality of life dramatically. Many people visit chiropractors, from athletes to seniors, to reduce their risk of injuries or to improve their flexibility, mobility and posture.
