What is Community Acupuncture?

Community acupuncture is a form of acupuncture that is typically provided in a group setting, with patients receiving treatment in a communal area such as a large room or clinic. This approach to acupuncture is intended to make the treatment more affordable and accessible to a wider range of people. Research data and clinical outcomes have shown that medical treatments done in a group setting have a more positive effect on patient outcome.

Community acupuncture is based on the same principles as traditional acupuncture, which is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body. The goal of acupuncture is to balance the body’s energy, known as Qi or Chi, and to promote healing and overall well-being.

Community acupuncture is a safe, effective, and affordable form of healthcare that can be used to address a wide range of health concerns, including chronic pain, stress, and anxiety. It is also a great way to get a sense of the benefits of acupuncture before committing to more extensive or expensive treatment.

It’s important to note that community acupuncture is usually performed by licensed acupuncturists who have the same level of education and training as traditional acupuncturists and has been proven by research to be as effective as one on one acupuncture. **All of our acupuncturists are registered with CTCMPAO.

There are a few things we ask that you keep in mind when receiving treatment to help us create a calm, relaxing and healing environment for all of our patients.

  • Keep talking to a minimum. To help us maintain a reservoir of calm in our treatment room, we ask that people refrain from talking in our treatment space. If you want to have a substantial conversation with someone from our team, we will need to schedule it separately. Likewise, we ask that you hold off on conversations with others around you until you have exited the treatment room.
  • Be flexible and understanding. Because we are a community of patients and practitioners working together, we ask that everyone have a little flexibility so we can create an environment that welcomes all.
  • Be respectful of our time. Please be on time for your appointment. We are able to offer acupuncture at an affordable price because our practitioners treat multiple patients per hour. We promise you we’ll always deliver the highest quality care possible, but because we work at a fast pace, we’re not always able to have lengthy conversations. If you want to have a substantial conversation with someone from our team, we will need to schedule it separately.
  • Understand scheduling limitations. We understand that everyone has busy lives, so we will always do our best to schedule your appointment at a time that works for you. However we do have some limitations, and our acupuncturists are only human, so we might not be able to fit you in at the last minute or during our busiest times. For our patients with very busy schedules, we recommend scheduling out appointments in advance so you can get in when you need to. We’re happy to help you with this.
