Pilates
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method of exercise which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through strength, movement, and mind-body awareness. It is beneficial for all ages and levels of physical ability. Pilates builds a stronger core, better balance, increases flexibility and promotes stability. The results are improved posture, body awareness, more efficient body movement, and increased overall well-being. Pilates is proven to help treat and manage pain by alleviating stress off joints and bones using low-impact
exercises. Pilates can be gentle while also challenging. Pilates engages the whole person, not just the muscles. It enhances your self-awareness making you stronger both physically and mentally. The mind-body integration will enhance stamina and focus and will improve your quality of life. With regular Pilates sessions you will see and feel the difference in your posture and will notice that you can move more freely. What’s involved in the private Pilates sessions at Complete Balance?
The Introductory Private Pilates Session involves an initial one on one session of 30 minutes that includes a consultation with a Pilates instructor. During this session the instructor will assess your specific body needs and discuss your personal goals and program focus. The instructor will touch on all the Basic Principles of Pilates within the context of some warm up exercises. The Ongoing Pilates Sessions are private sessions where the instructor will guide you through a series of exercises and will help you with your technique to keep the movements safe and effective. You’ll experience sessions tailored to your body’s level and desired focus on the Pilates mat. Small apparatus such as a Spring Wall, Arc Barrel and Spine Corrector, and props such as rotational disks, toning balls, flex-bands and fitness circles are regularly incorporated into the exercise program – all fantastic equipment that are challenging and are great fun!
